This transfer tunnel consists of a new 300 underground east-west tunnel connecting the existing State/Roosevelt Road Red Line underground subway with a 105' north-south extension to the exiting ground level station house for the Green/Orange Line. The project includes an addition of station House, elevator, escalator and stair. Removal of fuel tanks and contaminated soil from the project site as per EPA/CDOE guidelines. Reconstruction of Michigan Avenue including repair and connection of water and sewer lines. Architectural finish of subway and elevated station houses. Design Consulting Engineers (DCE) serving, as prime engineering consultant to the city of Chicago, Bureau of Bridge and Transit for design and construction supervision.

Design Consulting Engineers, as team member of a special projects division of renowned Turner Construction Company, proudly participated in on time completion of first phase of new office premises at 100 N. Riverside Plaza, Chicago for World Headquarters of aerospace industry giant, Boeing. The work included retrofit structural modifications, fire resistance system evaluation and testing. Boeing staff occupied the premises in last week of August. The Mayor of the city of Chicago and Boeing official led the new Boeing World Headquarters opening ceremony.

Rehabilitation of Historic Chicago Michigan Avenue between Jackson Blvd. and Van Buren St. is commenced on schedule. Projects include; Michigan Avenue bridge deck and underground two level garage structure.

Similarly, rehabilitation of South Grant Park Garage, Chicago, is also progressing as per schedule.

An ambitious 8 year project to revitalize the historic Maxwell Street surroundings near University of Illinois at Chicago. Named University Village is in full swing. DCE is assisting South Campus Development Team in the areas of geotechnical, structural engineering and quality control. The complex comprises of various types of multiunit residential units, and related infrastructure services including 930 units of townhomes and seven buildings of five story condominiums.

City of Chicago and Chicago Public School Board has undertaken a huge program of improvement, rehabilitation, and reconstruction of various school facilities within Chicago city boundaries. DCE contributed its services in areas of geotechnical engineering, construction inspection and management, material testing and quality control, and environmental engineering and is proud to be associated with two more schools at Thomas Kelly High School and New Eugene Elementary School.

DCE has been selected as consultant to provide professional services in Environmental Engineering to Chicago Public Schools for a period of two years. DCE will be responsible for Environmental Site Assessment, Remedial activities, Storage tank and Hazardous waste related services, Emergency response and other professional Environmental Engineering services.

DCE has been selected for structural steel and fabrication inspection for the bridge and building structure for a period of three years.

Lake Street Interlocking Rehabilitation, AMTRAK/METRA
The rehabilitation of Union Station at Chicago, a five year project under AMTRAK, is set for commencement soon. DCE is a member of technical and management team of DMJM Harris Group.

O’Hare International Airport-Terminal T6

The preparatory work of O’Hare Expansion Program and new terminal 6 (T6) at O’Hare International Airport is in design phase. This is the first time a large-scale design-built aviation project has been undertaken by FAA. DCE is a proud member of technical and management team of T6 partner with BECHTEL Group.
