Detailed Narrative Description of Project & Services provided:
This complex project is located in the heart of business district and main artery of Chicago Loop area. It leads to Millennium Park. The section of 60 years old Michigan Ave. Roadway/ Bridge structure between Jackson Blvd. and Van Buren Street was completely re-constructed from foundation to street level. It involved complex shoring and supporting system, traffic safety and control systems, high level quality control monitoring for concrete, reinforcement, architectural finishing and unique pre-cast elements..
Activities of this Project:
- DCE provided complete construction engineering and management services including Material Testing and Inspection Services for total reconstruction of Michigan Avenue roadway and bridge structure from foundation to street level, between Jackson blvd. and Van Buren Street. The project was part of North Grant Park Garage reconstruction and Millennium Park Project.
- The project services included Geo-technical Engineering Services, review of plans, specifications, documentation, concrete mix design, review, testing, and reinforcement.
- DCE provided services for concrete and reinforcement condition assessment, corrosion and PH value evaluations, shot- crete inspections.
- Inspection and monitoring of Latex based concrete topping, Pull tests for anchorage of reinforcement, review, monitoring, and testing of membrane waterproofing systems including remedial measures.
- DCE provided vibration monitoring services of various structures along Michigan Avenue to insure integrity and safety of existing structures abutting Michigan Avenue during reconstruction.
